Marami na ata ang Non-Maranaos and/or Non-Muslim na binigyan ng titles sa atin..
and aside from that, what can you say to those enthroned nowadays na don't even serve as model? I mean napansin ko sa mga enthronement ceremonies nowadays, mga young na maxado and i don't think kaya na nila ang responsibilities as Bae and Datu...tabii tabia sa diron kiolaola, after makita mu sa enthronement ceremony ung bae and/or datu, the next na makikita mu nasa manila, cdo or anywhere na places without even wearing their veils (hijjab), nasa disco clubs or drinking mga haraam...so ang nangyayari, lalo na sa may mga kaibigan na christians who knew them as enthroned/with title, nawawalan na rin ng respeto ang mga christians sa atin...kasi naman mismo nga BAE/DATU na kilala nila pumupunta din sa mga haraam places...
malamang hindi rin kasalanan ng mga anak na ipinilit sa kanila ang title. diba, titles are acquired by blood relation/by clan? then, hu is to be blamed? sa tingin nyu, kaninung fault ang mga ganung cases?
FYI, having a title of a datu or bae, has nothing to do with Islam in anyway shape or form... these titles are residual traditions from the malays which again has nothing to do with Islam... So if these so-called datus or baes or even self-proclaimed sultans are entangled with haraam activities as you mentioned, it has no bearing with Islam... We, maranaos should be aware that, it is not by virtue of our titles or having muslim names that we become followers of Islam...ofcourse, it has responsibilities that we may be accountable, but, we become muslim in the right sense when we live, think, act, and die in accordance to the teachings of the revealed Book of Allah subhana wa ta'ala (Al-Qur'an) and the sunnah or traditions of the last prophet and messenger, Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). So, even if the MSU President, GMA, Bush, Blair, Karzai, or the Pope and all the anti-Muslims in the world become Datu or Bae... let them simmer in their soup... in the Day of Judgement, we will be judged not according to our titles, we will be judged according to our right belief and actions... and while we still walk this earth (e.i. living not dead) start asking Allah's mercy till the day we die... because we would be needing it badly when we face our CREATOR!!!

Bismillahir Rahmaanir Raheem Assalaamu alaykum to all of you young brothers and sisters
I really appreciate this effort you are doing here. As young muslims, you should be aware of what is going on with our ummah, particularly those who wish to lead us. The question at stake: Who do you think is the best candidate in Lanao? I read all your opinions and they are all good opinions. What matters is that you are able to express whatever you think is right... Though i am not an electorate of Lanao, my roots are natives of Lanao. Infact, two of the candidates for top position of the province are my close relatives; one is my nephew and the other is my uncle in-law. Though I may not be able to write my choice of leaders in the province, I have my choice, but I will just keep it because it is immaterial. This will also keep me away from campaingning anyone among them...
But I wish to post a statement for all the candidates who are vying any position in our province, the land of the Muslims! I hope you, young Muslims will learn something out the statement, inshaÁllah.
O MUSLIM POLITICIANS!
All Praise is due only to Allah. We Praise Him and to Him we ask for help. We seek refuge in Allah from the evil within ourselves and from our wrong doings. Whoever Allah guide, no one can misguide him and whoever Allah misguides shall never be guided. I bear witness that there is no other god worthy of worship except Allah, Who is without partner and I bear witness that Muhammad is His slave and last Messenger, whom Allah has sent with the guidance of truth and as a bearer of good tidings of the coming Last Hour (Day of Judgment). Whoever obeys Allah and His messenger is indeed on the right path, and whoever disobeys certainly does harm only to him and does not harm Allah in any way.
O Muslim Politicians! Allah said: "Allah has promised those among you who believe, and do righteous good deeds, that He will certainly grant them succession to (the present leaders) in the earth, as He granted it to those before them, and that He will grant them the authority to practice their religion, that which He has chosen for them (Islam). And He will surely give them in exchange a safe security after their fear, (in the condition that) they (believers) worship Me and do not associate anything (in worship) with Me. But whoever disbelieved after this, they are the Fâsiqûn (rebellious, disobedient to Allah. (An-Nur 24:55)
Subhanallah! We see before our very eyes, politicians falling one by one to the ditch of ruin. We see them utterly pleasing their corrupt benefactors to seek recognition as the best option for the position to conspire prolonged existence of those in power. We see them, without sense of decency, bootlegging one another to lead us under the alluring and much-abused term, “public-service”.
O Muslim Politicians! Adhere to the book of Allah and follow the sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (saw) in every affairs of your lives. Allah azza wajal has admonished us that the success of a leader in authority can only be achieved by those who worship Him alone; enjoining what is good and forbidding what is evil. Whoever fulfills this condition, indeed, Allah has promised success in this life and in the hereafter. At the same token, Allah azza wajal has warned that those leaders who disobeyed will be among the losers as fasiqûn.
O Muslim Politicians! Remember that in Islam, leadership is amanah rather than an occupation. It is not a profession that someone should amass material wealth using public treasury. It is not a position that immunizes someone from being questioned and be answerable to the people he or she is suppose to protect and serve. It is ibadah to earn the pleasures of Allah while leading our people with honesty, transparency and social justice. It is the reestablishment of law and order, based on the dictates of Allah subhana wa ta’ala. It is raising the banner of La ilaha illalah wa muhammadar rasulullah!
O Muslim Politicians! Ponder upon the speech of Abu Bakr as-Siddique (may Allah be pleased with him) when he was chosen as khalifa (successor) of Prophet Muhammad (saw) He said: “O people! I have been put in authority over you and I am not the best amongst you. So if I do the right thing, then help me and if I do wrong, then put me straight. Truthfulness is a sacred trust and lying is a betrayal. The weak one among you is strong as far as I am concern until I restore to him his right insha’Allah, and the strong one of you is weak until I take what is due from him, insha’Allah. No people forsake the struggle in the way of Allah but that Allah afflicts them with humiliation. Nor does indecency ever spread among the people but that Allah envelops them in punishment. Obey me as long as I obey Allah and His messenger, and if I disobey Allah and His messenger, then you do not owe me obedience. Stand up for your prayer and may Allah have mercy upon you.”
O Muslim Politicians! ‘Umar bin al-Khattab ar-Faruq (may Allah be pleased with him), the successor of Abu Bakr as-Siddique, reminded us of the three aspects of being khulafa (representatives) of the Muslims. First of all, it is pleasurable because of the power, privilege and influence; secondly, it becomes culpability because of the wrong actions brought about by the misuse and abuse of such power, privilege and influence; and thirdly, it becomes accountability and source of grief in the Day of Judgment when the khulafa will account before Allah.
O Muslim Politicians! Fear Allah! Remember that there is reward and punishment as well as there is paradise and hell. Be aware that Allah said: “Everyone shall taste death. And only on the Day of Resurrection shall you be paid your wages in full. And whoever is removed away from the fire and admitted to Paradise, he indeed is successful. The life of this world is only the enjoyment of deception (a deceiving things).”(Al-Imran 3:185)
O Muslim Politicians! The ummah is in dire need of a just leader whose priority is to protect not only his own safety but also the security of the old and the weak against the abuse of the strong and influential; a selfless-conscientious leader who will uplift not only his own interest but the quality of life of more than 90% impoverish and under-develop Muslim community in the south and elsewhere; a compassionate leader who will deliver goods and services not only to his close kin and few chosen friends but right on the doorsteps of all his constituency; an upright leader who is prepared to face not only his political adversaries but also willing to fight corruption in governance, proliferation of drugs, and other evil vices that destroy our Muslim youth; a God-fearing leader who will strive to establish not his own influence to stay longer in power but to institute shari’ah as the basis of governance and adherence to Prophet Muhammad (saw) has said; “Follow my sunnah and the sunnah of the righteous guided khulafa after me” and lastly, an unblemished leader who is willing to be questioned and face accountability not only to his own party affiliation but to the electorates he has sworn and pledged to serve.
O Muslim Politicians! If these virtues are not among your qualities, then, we only complain to Allah alone, the One Who Hears and the One Who will send the leader we are asking for. As Allah azza wajal promised the believers: “…And if you turn away (from Islam and the obedience to Allah), He will exchange you for some other people and they will not be your likes.” (Muhammad 47:38)
We ask Allah to make us, by His grace, among those who enter perfectly in to Islam. May Allah bless His slave and Messenger Muhammad and his family and Companions, and grant them peace.
