Hello to all who are living in Marawi.
And maybe one of you can help - in 1972 a young German arrived in Marawi from the coast travelling by bicycle.
His arrival caused quite a stir since he might have been the fist foreign traveller who did arrive by bicycle - he had cycled from Manila and was on his way to Davao.
He had thought to continue on via Marawi to Davao but it was suggested to him that that would be unsafe and he was asked to go back to the coast - which he did.
But first students brought him to the Univercity where he became guest of an american teacher.
Now, that cyclist, of course, was me and I did make it to Davao and continued cycling around the world for the next 13 years.
Why am I writing: because this Dec. and Jan. I will travel though the Philippines - not by bike I am sorry to say - and would love to find somebody who remembers.
Even though it was a long time ago.
