MARAWI CITY

The Islamic City of Marawi today was before a municipality named Dansalan which was organized on May 24,1907 under the Moro Province Administration. Dansalan means a "place of destination" a rendezvous.

The old Dansalan became a charter city on August 19, 1940, pursuant to Commonwealth Act No. 592, but was inaugurated only on September 30, 1950, the delay was caused by the Pacific War.

Marawi city is for travellers who truly want to experience unique aspect of the Philippines. As an Islamic cultural center for Muslim Filipinos, it is popular for both its beautiful veiled Maranai women and its sparingly hot political passion.

Torogan is one of the Tourist their tourist spots located at Amito and Dayawan, Marawi City. The feeling if the unique setting of the Maranao in Marawi City is manifested by the presence of many large torogan, an antique royal high roofed with curving designed of Maranao.

Another is the Ancestral Homes at Bacolod Chico. They are century old homes inspired by Arabic architecture and Maranao woodcarvings (okir). The place is famous for its mats, malong and other woven Maranao textiles.

Visit Lanao Lake. Located beside the City, lies in the rolling terrian commanding majestic view of the fascinating lake. It is the 2nd largest lake in the Philippines.

There are also beaches you can enjoy like, Bagang Beach. It is located at Caloocan Gulf, Marawi City. It is located 2 meters away from the commercial site of the city.

Appreaciate Agus River. It is located in beetween Saduc and Lilod, Marawi City. It is the swiftest river in the country. Its famous cataract is the Ma. Cristina Falls, outlet of Lake Lanao of Illana Bay.
