| Women in Veil Behind Bars: What Can We Do? |

Page 5 of 15 What benefit we can get from the on-going peace agreement -- from the millions of funds poured in Mindanao to rehabilitate Muslims areas--- when one day, we realized we lost our women and young generations to drugs and other haram things? They are the stakeholders so we need to protect them with Allah swt help insha’allah. We fight for our homeland against colonizers and aggressor now our enemies come in a new form but more worst because this time it does not only deprive us of our material possessions i.e. our homeland but will take away from us our sanity, pride, self-worth, dignity and above all our moral values. Come to think of it, the new danger –corruption of moral values. We have to care for our women because they are our future good wives and mothers who will raise their children in accordance with the teachings of Islam. Let us help one another. What can we do? I would like also to invite everyone to watch Reporter’s Notebook at GMA 7, Tuesday at 11 PM. This show will feature Muslim women in detention center and interviews of women who experienced harassments from police officers. Don’t fail the shocking revelation of one of the Sister who was asked to take off her underwear before the policemen because allegedly she kept Shabu (drug) in her private part. Also in this feature my point of view on why this is happening to Muslim women. I discussed more on the Islamic perspective and the problems confronting the sisters and also calling concerned agencies, religious leaders and our Muslim congressmen to do something and help our innocent Muslim Sisters. Please watch the program and hopefully it will guide us all to come up concerted efforts to help our women in veil behind bars. Lastly, for all of us let us contemplate a beautiful ayah in Surah Al-Imran 3:110 that states: Ye are the best Of peoples, evolved for mankind Enjoining what is right , Forbidding what is wrong, And believing in Allah…. There is always hope for our Ummah because Allah swt says-- we are the best Ummah. But to manifest this Ummah requires our pure intention to abide by the rules of Allah swt. So, let us reflect on this because all of us have roles to play in attaining the ideal Ummah for Muslims in this country, insha’allah. Infact, sister ngayon araw, 17th April 2008, tumawag sa akin ung sister natin dito sa Jubail at nagpapatulong sa akin kasi kilala niya mga male maranao na very protective sa mga kababaehan, ke anupamang tribu, subok na yan dito sa Middle East. Anyway, may karelasyon ang sister natin, (actually, iranon siya) na christian at sad to say, 5 months preggy ang sister natin. Ito ngayon ang scenario, humihingi siya ng tulong para makaganti sa lalaki na yun. Una, niloko siya kasi more than a year na sila, pakilala ni bro (nag balik Islam, pero doubt me, anyway hu me to judge),singul pa, pinangakuan siya ng kasal, infact bumili ng round trip ticket ang sister para sa lalaki na yun pero nirefund pala niya so walang kasalang naganap sa Pinas. Ito ng kanina lang, tumawag siya at niremind ako. Sabi ko lang, iconsult ko muna sa mas marurunong. Ang totoo, kung kapatid or pamangkin ko lang sister na ito, iwan ko kung ano ang nagawa ko.
